Start in Copenhagen, the most cosmopolitan of all the Scandinavian capitals. After a lunch of smørrebrød at Danish favorite Ida Davidsen’s, weave down to the Dansk Design Center to learn your Jacobsen from your Henningsen. Consider a jaunt to Århus (3½ hours). Whilst second in size to Copenhagen, Århus feels all the more relaxed and friendly for it and the Latin Quarter makes for some fantastic boutique shopping. Back through Copenhagen, catch the sleeper and wake the next morning ready to tackle Stockholm. Indulge in 1000 years of Swedish architecture at the Arkitektursmuseet – or if you prefer interiors then R.O.O.M, although strictly an interiors store for the well-heeled, is as much a paean to interior design as any museum could hope to be.
